0-0 After 90 Minutes in Womens Gold Medal Game

August 21, 2008   •   Olympic Women's Soccer, Results

The USA and Brazil women locked into a scoreless draw after the first ninety minutes of the Gold Medal match in the womens soccer tournament at the Beijing Olympic Games. Instead of the high scoring games of the semis both teams zeroed in on defense and trying to find choice opportunities to score. It was a hard fought and physical game between these two rivals.

Hope Solo had to make one very strong save in the second half to keep the game scoreless. Marta got loose in the box through two defenders and hit a sharp shot at the near post which Solo had to make a reaction save on to keep it out of the net.

The USA is trying to avenge the loss to Brazil in the World Cup that threatened to fracture the team. Meanwhile Brazil has rolled through this tournament looking like the overwhelming favorite from day one.
